Book Goshti and Kavi Durbar by Punjabi department of the college

Mahilpur April 11:- The Post Graduate Punjabi Department of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Khalsa College Mahilpur here organized a Book Goshti and Kavi Durbar with the support of Punjabi Sahitya Academy Ludhiana. On this occasion, there was a discussion on the ghazal collection 'Sham Di Sakh Te' of the migrant Punjabi poet Kulwinder, after which the poets present presented their works.

Mahilpur April 11:- The Post Graduate Punjabi Department of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Khalsa College Mahilpur here organized a Book Goshti and Kavi Durbar with the support of Punjabi Sahitya Academy Ludhiana. On this occasion, there was a discussion on the ghazal collection 'Sham Di Sakh Te' of the migrant Punjabi poet Kulwinder, after which the poets present presented their works.
On this occasion, the famous poet Sulakhan Varadi was present as the chief guest while poet Prof. Surjit Judge presided over the function. On this occasion, General Secretary of Punjabi Sahitya Akademi Dr. Gulzar Pandher, Principal Dr. Parvinder Singh, storyteller Ajmer Sidhu, Dr. Jagwinder Jodha and writer Nachhatar Singh Bhogal were present in the presidium. At the beginning of the function, Principal Dr. Parvinder Singh shared the welcome words for all the attendees and said that in today's materialistic era, reading good literature and discussing it is the best activity.
Head of Punjabi Department Dr JB Sekho shared the activities of the department. Prof. Dr. Prabhjot Kaur of the department presented selected ghazals of Kulwinder. On this occasion, Dr. Shamsher Mohi, while reading the first research paper on the ghazal collection 'Sham Di Sakh Te', presented his views on the subject matter of Kulwinder's ghazals and its artistic constitution. He said that Kulwinder's poetic sensibility does not extinguish the flame of courage and struggle in man even in sad times. The second research paper was presented by critic Dr. Harpreet Singh from Sant Baba Bhag Singh University.
He discussed the ideological perspective of poet Kulwinder's ghazals in the context of the contemporary ghazal tradition. He said that Kulwinder's ghazals are free from sloganeering poetry, behind which is his ideological commitment, original poetic imagery and elegant language. Starting the debate on this occasion, Dr. Jagwinder Yodha discussed the history and current status of Punjabi ghazal and described Kulwinder's poetry as the poetry of a lonely man. He also shared the nuances of courtly ghazal and folk ghazal. Storytellers Ajmer Sidhu, Dr. Kewal Ram, Navtej Garhdiwala, Joge Bhangal, Dr. Gurjant Singh and Prof. Baldev Balli shared many points about various aspects of Kulwinder's poetry in the discussion held on this occasion.
The chief guest, poet Sulakhan Vardhi and Prof. Surjit Judge made valuable comments on the research papers read on the book and the points raised in the discussion. On this occasion, immigrant writer Nachhatar Singh Bhogal's book 'Jeevan Dhara' was also presented to the public and copies of Kulwinder's ghazal collection were presented to selected student poets of the college. In the second session of the ceremony, Dr. Gurcharan Kaur Kochhar, Navtej Gardiwala, Jasveer Jhaj and Prof. Ajit Lageri participated in the Kavi Durbar. Poets Amrik Dogra, Amarinder Sohal, Preet Nitpur, Baldev Balli, Joge Bhangal, Santokh Singh Veer were present on this occasion. , Ranjit Posey, Sabi Pakhowal, Jasveer Jhaj, Jeevan Chandeli, Dr. Gurcharan Kaur Kochhar and Amrik Hamraj wowed the audience by presenting their compositions. The words of thanks were shared by Dr. Gulzar Pandher, General Secretary of the Academy and thanked the College Management Committee, Principal and the special initiatives of the Punjabi Department. On this occasion, writer Dr. Dharmapal Sahil, environmental thinker Vijay Bombeli, Shiromani Children's Literature awardee writer Baljinder Mann, writer Jasbir Dhiman, SDO Jagwinder Singh, District Language Research Officer Dr. Jaswant Rai, painter Sukhman, Mr. Sarabjit Singh, Prof. Ashok Kumar, Prof. Tajinder Singh , many students including Prof. Anil Kalsi were present. Dr. JB Sekho and Dr. Balveer Kaur conducted the proceedings of the forum.
