Nawanshahr- District Magistrate Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar Rajesh Dhiman, exercising powers conferred under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Security Act 2023, has banned the entry/passage of overloaded heavy vehicles (gravel, cement, sand, soil, silt, overloaded sawdust/flax trolley/truck, commercially carried goods etc.) in Nawanshahr city from 7 am to 9 pm.
The District Magistrate said that overloaded vehicles are running day and night on the Garhshankar-Nawanshahr road in the district, due to which children going to school in the morning and employees/common people going to office have to face a lot of problems and some major accident keeps happening every day. Due to which there can be loss of life and property and traffic problem persists.

Therefore, the above order has been implemented to prevent accidents occurring every day, to protect the lives and property of the public and to ensure smooth and efficient traffic in the city. This order will remain effective till July 8, 2025.
