SAS Nagar, January 8 - Punjabi Virsa Cultural and Welfare Society President and former Municipal Corporation Councilor Satvir Singh Dhanoa has said that making an MSP Guarantee Law for crops is the need of the hour. Because this law will be in the interest of both farmers and consumers.
In a statement issued here, he said that this law will benefit consumers more than farmers. He said that the assumption that this law will increase inflation is also wrong, whereas the reality is that it will curb inflation. He said that due to the absence of MSP, traders charge the buyer the rate of their choice. An item priced at Rs 10 per kg is also sold for Rs 40 per kg because the buyer does not know the actual rate of the item due to the lack of government rates.
He said that according to today's rates, cabbage is being purchased from farmers for Rs 3 to 5 per kg, but in the market it is being sold for Rs 35 to 40 per kg because the buyer does not know the price of the product purchased from the farmer. Therefore, the government should fix the prices of all the products. He said that by fixing the government prices of crops, the looting of the consumer by the middlemen will stop, therefore everyone should support the farmers. Talking about the farmers' protest, S. Dhanoa said that the central government should immediately talk to the farmers. He said that the central government is on the path of making the common people (farmers, shopkeepers, small traders, businessmen and laborers) obedient to the capitalists, which is not acceptable to any outsider.
