Chandigarh, July 13 - Union Minister for Power, Housing and Urban Affairs Shri Manohar Lal said that the name of Karnal city has been included in the list of the cleanest cities of the country in the Swachh Survekshan, which is a matter of great joy for all of us. He congratulated Karnal city on being selected for the President's Award for cleanliness and said that the public should cooperate in maintaining cleanliness in the future as well.

He congratulated Karnal city on being selected for the President's Award for cleanliness and said that the public should cooperate in maintaining cleanliness in the future as well.
Union Minister Shri Manohar Lal was interacting with the media during his visit to Karnal on Sunday. He congratulated the public representatives, sanitation workers and the public of Karnal for this achievement and said that it is a matter of great joy that Karnal city has been selected for the President's Award for cleanliness. This award is the result of the good work done by the sanitation workers and the cooperation given by the citizens.
He said that under the Swachh Bharat Mission, a cleanliness survey campaign has been going on for the last several years, which is carried out by a third party agency. Based on the list received from that agency and the population, five categories have been created, one of which is the city with a population of 10 lakhs and below and the second category is the category with a population of 10 lakhs to 3 lakhs. The name of Karnal city is included in the second category.
In response to a question from the media, the Union Minister said that Karnal city was also included in the 100 cities of the country that were selected by the Government of India as a pilot project. A lot of work has been done in Karnal city under the Smart City Project, but the work that was left pending will be completed.
On this occasion, Karnal MLA Mr. Jagmohan Anand, Indri MLA Mr. Ramkumar Kashyap, Nilokheri MLA Mr. Bhagwandas Kabirpanthi, Assandh MLA Mr. Yogendra Rana, Municipal Corporation Mayor Mrs. Renu Bala Gupta and other dignitaries were present.
