Una, November 16 - Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal said that the press has an important role in highlighting issues of public interest and moving them forward towards their solution. He said that the media not only works to bring out the hidden aspects of society, but also helps in providing benefits of government schemes to the needy and ensuring administrative reforms. The Deputy Commissioner expressed these views while presiding over the district level conference organized by the Information and Public Relations Department in Una on Saturday on the occasion of National Press Day.

The Deputy Commissioner expressed these views while presiding over the district level conference organized by the Information and Public Relations Department in Una on Saturday on the occasion of National Press Day.
The topic 'Changing nature of press' was discussed in the conference, in which journalists of the district shared their experiences. The Deputy Commissioner wished all journalists on National Press Day and underlined their responsibility towards the society. He said that media exposes many hidden aspects of the society and plays its unbiased role in the progress of the society. Emphasizing everyone's common duty towards the society, he called upon everyone to move forward together in the larger public interest.

'Discussion-dialogue session' will be held every three months
The Deputy Commissioner said that media is the fourth pillar of democracy, which presents the truth to the public in an alert, unbiased and transparent manner. To establish better communication between the administration and the media, a 'Discussion-Samvad Session' will be organized every three months in Una. Current issues will be discussed in this session, which will provide feedback to the administration and it will be easy to take corrective steps.

Role in raising social awareness
The Deputy Commissioner said that media has an important role in ensuring timely availability of public services and in making the benefits of government schemes reach every needy person in the society. He also urged the media for active participation in motivating the youth to adopt a healthy lifestyle and increasing social awareness.
Emphasizing on collective efforts to make Una district prosperous and a model of good governance, the Deputy Commissioner said that the administration and society should work together. If anyone sees any wrong activity happening around them, they should inform the administration about it. He underlined the positive role of media in social development.
He urged the role of media in encouraging the youth to adopt a healthy lifestyle. He emphasized on collective efforts to make Una district prosperous and a model of good governance. He said that for overall development it is necessary that all sections work together. If something is wrong around you, inform the administration about it.

Journalists put forward their views in the discussion
A discussion was organized on the topic 'Changing form of press' in the district level conference. In this program, senior and young journalists shared their experiences and expressed their views on the importance, challenges and responsibilities of journalism in changing times.
On this occasion, President of Press Club Una, Surendra Sharma, while throwing light on the history of organizing National Press Day, said that the Press Council of India formally started its work on 16 November 1966, on this occasion this day is celebrated every year. Press Day is an opportunity to strengthen the resolve of fair and independent press media.
Press Club General Secretary Jitendra Kanwar stressed on the preservation of journalistic values ??and also spoke about the compulsions and difficulties faced by journalists. He said that despite the challenges, the media has been discharging its responsibilities with full honesty and transparency.
Senior journalist Jasbir Thakur said that change is natural with time. This change becomes even more necessary in the field of journalism, but in this changing format, delivering factual and accurate news to the society should be paramount. Senior journalist Kishori Lal Bains stressed that the media must remain vigilant about its ethical values.
Senior journalist Jeevan Sharma, while discussing the need for fact-based journalism, said that journalists should stick to their principles while facing the challenges of changing times. Senior journalist Randhir Jaswal stressed the need to ensure the exchange of fair, factual and accurate news in the rapidly changing media scenario. Senior journalist Rajan Chhba, while highlighting the role of journalists in building society, said that journalists not only work to give direction to the society but also promote its awareness. Senior journalist Rajesh Thakur expressed his views on professional challenges and media literacy in journalism, and also stressed on journalists maintaining their dignity amidst the increasing influence of new technologies.
Ajay Kumar of Press Club Bangana discussed the changes in journalism due to the influence of digital technologies and the Internet. Senior journalist Sushil Sharma outlined society's expectations from journalists. Senior journalist Harpal Singh, while highlighting the challenges in journalism, said that unity among journalists is essential to deal with them. Senior journalist Sandeep Khadwal presented a poem titled 'Chhote Shahar Ka Patrakar' and depicted the difficulties of journalism in small towns. Joginder Dev Arya of Bangana Press Club described the need to maintain impartiality and dignity of principles in journalism as important.
Young journalists also expressed their views in this discussion. Young journalist Abhishek stressed the need for a comprehensive policy for digital media. He suggested making a solid strategy for the rapid changes taking place in digital media. Young journalist Vikas Kumar expressed concern over the right issues not getting enough space in the media and urged everyone to fulfill their responsibilities.
Young journalist Ashutosh spoke about the need to prioritise the impact of news and its effect on society. Young journalist Harpreet expressed his views on the impact and spread of social media.
