Hoshiarpur- Asha Worker and Facilitator Union Punjab, District Hoshiarpur, under the leadership of the organization's District President Harninder Kaur, took out a huge district level protest rally in front of the Civil Surgeon's office, Hoshiarpur, regarding their demands. On this occasion, Asha workers and facilitators from across the district gathered and raised slogans against the Punjab Government, Chief Minister, Health Minister and Civil Surgeon.
Addressing on this occasion, District President Harninder Kaur said that Asha workers have been providing their services with full honesty in Punjab for the last two decades. Asha workers are playing an important role in reducing maternal and infant mortality rate, providing government facilities to the people and making national programs successful. She said that the state governments are not giving remuneration to Asha workers according to their work.
The current government of the common people is not even implementing the demands decided with the Asha workers. PSSF State President Satish Rana and Chief Advisor of the organization Manjit Bajwa while addressing said that demands can be achieved only through organizational strength and governments can be forced to accept demands only through joint struggles.
Seeing the enthusiasm of the rally, a meeting was held with the leaders by the Civil Surgeon Hoshiarpur. In the meeting, the Civil Surgeon assured to resolve the demands as per the demands put forth by the leaders and the issues of rest room for Asha workers in Civil Hospital, harassment of Asha workers in ESI Hospital were resolved permanently on the spot and the demands related to the government were raised with recommendations before the higher officials.
Apart from the above mentioned leaders, Jasvir Kaur Chakkowal, Raj Kumari Tanda, Manjit Kaur Budhwar, Sushma Rani Hajipur, Naseeb Kaur Bhunga, Sukhwinder Kaur ESI Rajni Sharma, Ruby Bala, Parminder Kaur, Maninder Kaur, PSSF leader Gurbachan Singh also addressed the rally.
