
MP Anurag Thakur reviewed the development plans and gave instructions to expedite the works
Una, 7 December- MP Anurag Thakur chaired the meeting of District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (Disha) in Una on Saturday. In this meeting, he took a thorough review of the progress of the Central Government sponsored development schemes and gave strict instructions to the officials to expedite the works. He said that the funds for the projects which have been approved from the MP Development Fund, but whose work has not started by 31 March 2023, should be returned. He directed the officials that the works which have already started should be completed by 28 February 2025 at all costs.

In this meeting, he took a thorough review of the progress of the Central Government sponsored development schemes and gave strict instructions to the officials to expedite the works. He said that the funds for the projects which have been approved from the MP Development Fund, but whose work has not started by 31 March 2023, should be returned. He directed the officials that the works which have already started should be completed by 28 February 2025 at all costs.
The MP told the officials that they should not limit themselves to just achieving the targets but also make the schemes more effective by improving the working system. He stressed that positive changes should be visible on the ground level by the next meeting of Disha. He asked all the officials to take ground feedback and give suggestions for improving the schemes.
In the meeting, the progress and effective implementation of other development schemes including centrally sponsored schemes were discussed. Officials of the concerned departments gave detailed information about the implementation of the schemes.
Instructions for strict action on illegal mining
The MP expressed concern over the huge problem of illegal mining in Una district and directed to strengthen the monitoring system with the help of latest technology and cooperation of villagers to solve it. He also took strong cognizance of the damage to rural roads and revenue loss due to illegal mining. Also, he asked to make efforts to sanction a special police team to crack down on illegal mining.
The MP said that 2646 houses have been sanctioned under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural) for Una district, which is a big achievement. Apart from this, two new Kendriya Vidyalayas have been sanctioned for Gagret and Chintpurni assembly constituencies in the district.
Taking cognizance of the problem of waterlogging in various railway underpasses in Una district during the rainy season, the MP directed the officials to find a permanent solution to this. He asked to carry out all construction works with a futuristic approach in future. Also, expressing displeasure over the delay in the design of the sewerage treatment plant of PGI Satellite Centre, he asked to resolve it immediately.
The MP stressed on the convergence of rural development schemes and directed to improve the system of solid waste management in panchayats. He asked to share information on livelihood training through RSETI and work in a planned manner to eliminate malnutrition in the district. He asked to prepare an action plan for the district regarding the central government's program of making Lakhpati Didi for women empowerment.
The MP informed that a total of Rs 243 crore is being spent on 27 works under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana in the district. He asked for special attention to reduce road accidents and ensure the safety of people.
Valuable suggestions given by members
On this occasion, Una MLA Satpal Satti, former minister Virendra Kanwar, Zila Parishad President Neelam Kumari and former Chintpurni MLA Balveer Chaudhary along with other non-official members of the committee gave their valuable suggestions regarding the development works.
Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal assured to ensure full compliance with the instructions of the MP and said that the development works would be completed in a timely manner.
Superintendent of Police Rakesh Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner Mahendra Pal Gurjar and top officials of various departments were present in the meeting.
