Chandigarh- A heavy 18-tyre truck, loaded with about 35 tonnes of goods, sank into the road in the residential area near House No. 1807 in Sector-43, Chandigarh. Questions are being raised on how this truck reached the residential area. After this incident, the local people have accused the administration of negligence.
It was fortunate that there was no pedestrian or vehicle on the road at the time of the incident, due to which a major accident was averted. Local residents and councilor Premlata are expressing concern that if there was any loss of life, who would have been responsible for it?
This incident raises questions on the functioning of the Chandigarh administration and the Municipal Corporation. Now the question is -
Why and how did the heavy vehicle enter the residential area?
Is the quality of the road checked from time to time?
If an accident had happened, who would have been responsible - the administration, the contractor or the truck owner?
Local people are demanding investigation from the administration and strict action against the culprits.
