Generation Gap: The Truth of the Present
Recently, I came across a story of a 75-year-old man who was roaming around the city at this advanced age, selling calendars, maps and charts for children. When someone asked him that this age is for sitting at home and resting while you wander around outside all day, the old man replied that if I stay at home all day, I will nag my daughters-in-law and children. "The light is on, the water is left on, the children are on their mobile phones" etc. Such nagging is not liked by the current generation and doing so will reduce my dignity and disturb the peace of the house. The man's reasoning was that I walk 10-15 kilometers every day, meet hundreds of people, earn income and sleep peacefully after eating bread and water in the evening. I am also happy and my family is also happy. This story shows the gap that has arisen between generations in today's time.

Generation gap refers to the changing values and ideological differences between people of different ages. This difference sometimes becomes a cause of misunderstanding, disagreement and tension in family and relationships. All our social relationships can be affected to a great extent due to the difference in generations. To understand how the difference in ages affects relationships, we have to understand the nature of the generation gap. Today's time is the era of speed. Communication tools have made amazing progress. Generational differences in communication styles can sometimes become a cause of misunderstandings. In the old days, anger was resolved face to face, but in today's technology-dominated era, grievances are expressed through advanced means of communication, which sometimes do not completely disappear. Generation gap has been a topic of discussion since the past. We have been scolded by elders since our childhood. They have always been seen cursing our time and praising their times. Cultural changes also play an important role in the generation gap. As society progresses towards development, values, norms and behavioral traditions change. Sometimes this gap creates a conflict-like situation between parents and children. Parents and children may have conflicting views on education, career choice and lifestyle preferences.
Such situations also cause family strife. To avoid such a situation, people of different age groups should change their nature according to the times. There is a need to make a habit of valuing each other's feelings. We should benefit from the experience of elders. Their advice and guidance should be given importance in domestic families.
Moreover, as time changes, the needs, thinking and wisdom of every person change. With this, every person needs to adapt himself. Every generation has struggled to establish its existence and this struggle will continue from generation to generation. Situations are always changing.
