Patiala, March 8 - Department of Languages, Punjab organized Mehfil-e-Qawwali in the open air theater of its headquarters. During this event conducted under the leadership of Director of Language Department, Harpreet Kaur, eminent Qawwal Neele Khan enthralled the audience present in the pandal with his beautiful singing. Shiromani Urdu literature writer Dr. Nashir Naqvi presided over this event And Shiromani Urdu literature writer Dr. Rubina Shabnam participated as a special guest.

The director of the department, Harpreet Kaur, welcomed the guests and said that while the language department is striving for the promotion of Punjabi mother tongue, it is also committed to respecting Hindi and Urdu. Under which Mehfil e Qawali has been decorated. He said that the department is running many schemes related to Urdu language like other languages. Dr. Nashir Naqvi, in his presidential speech, explained the history of Qawwali in detail. He said that the mastery of the singing style of Qawli is achieved with a lot of hard work, good training and passion. He appreciated the efforts of the Language Department of Punjab for the promotion of Urdu language. On this occasion, special guest Dr. Rubina Shabnam congratulated for the place given to Urdu language in the events organized by the Language Department Punjab every year. He said that it is a very commendable step to give parallel respect to the writers of this beautiful language by the Language Department Punjab.
During Mehfil e Qawwali, Kawal Neele Khan in his unique style sang 'Dama-Dum Mast Kalandhar', 'Bhathi Walie Chambe Diye Dalie', 'Mere Rashke Qamar', 'Sun Son Diya Kangana', 'Ihe Umar De Honey Ne Nibede'. The audience was enthralled with the performance of more than a dozen songs. The organizer of the event, Assistant Director Ashraf Mahmood Nandan, thanked everyone. The special guests and singer Neele Khan were honored by the language department. On this occasion, Deputy Director Harbhajan Kaur and Satnam.
