he said that the rosters of fogging should be changed every week in the remaining parts of the district while fogging should be ensured every third day in the hotspot areas so that the residents of the district can be protected from dengue, chikungunya and malaria fever. Similarly, the officials of the water supply and sanitation department were directed to take samples of water supplied from the source and water coming out of the outlets across the district so that people can be kept away from the outbreak of vomiting/diarrhoea.
Directing the officials of local bodies to issue challans to the owners of houses and other places where dengue mosquito larvae are found, he said that any negligence can be costly for the residents due to being affected by these deadly fevers. He appealed to the residents of the district to observe every Friday as a dry day and to make it mandatory to empty all water containers, except the back trays of refrigerators and tanks of air coolers, once a week to prevent dengue fever larvae. He said that all government offices should observe dry day every Friday so that an example can be set as part of comprehensive and awareness activities to prevent dengue fever.
In addition, all private and government hospitals have been directed to submit the reports of dengue and chikungunya patients who come for treatment to the Civil Surgeon's office within 24 to 48 hours. He said that it is mandatory to confirm all suspected patients with ELISA test based on blood samples before declaring the patient dengue positive. Besides, all dengue patients should be treated as per the guidelines of NVBDCP.
Civil Surgeon Dr. Sangeet Jain apprised the Deputy Commissioner about the preventive measures being taken by the Health Department. He said that all the nursing students studying in the nursing colleges of the district have been made aware about the activities to detect dengue larvae. Since January 2025, 7188 houses have been surveyed and 21709 containers have been checked. So far 9 dengue cases have been confirmed in the district.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioners Anmol Singh Dhaliwal and Sonam Chaudhary, DDPO Baljinder Singh Grewal, District Epidemic Prevention Officer Dr. Anamika, Executive Engineer Water Supply and Sanitation Gurprakash Singh and Executive Officers of Municipal Councils and Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Health Officer MC Mohali.
