Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, February 15: Various workshops were organized for skill development of students at Shaheed Major Harminderpal Singh (Shaurya Chakra) Government College, Mohali. The main objective of the workshops held on topics such as data analysis, painting techniques, scientific skills for career acquisition, skills required for success etc. was to provide practical knowledge and skills to the students in the respective field.
College Principal Mrs. Gurinderjit Kaur said that if students acquire vocational skills along with their studies, it increases their employment opportunities. She said that this institution established in the name of Shaheed Major Harminderpal Singh provides all the opportunities for the all-round development of students, which can make them successful in future.
Dr. Amandeep Kaur, coordinator of this grant issued by the Punjab Government, said that the main objective of this government program is to make students skilled for professions. She said that more than 400 students have received skill development in these workshops, which they will be able to take advantage of in getting a profession.
He further informed that under this grant the college has also organized various excursions for skill enhancement of students.
These workshops were successfully organized by Prof. Gunjit Kaur Research Cell, Aarti Bakshi Department of English, Amrish Thakur Department of Chemistry, Kirandeep Kaur Department of Fine Arts, Amandeep Singh Department of Economics, Rani Devi Department of Computer and Prof. Chirag Department of Physics.
