NCC cadets and students of Jalandhar Group practiced civil defence mock drill.

Jalandhar- Civil defence mock drill was practiced in 250 different educational institutions of six NCC battalions under the leadership of NCC Group Headquarters Jalandhar. Group Commander Brigadier Ajay Tiwari, Army Medal said that 8,000 NCC cadets and students practiced civil defence mock drill in colleges and schools of three battalions in Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala, Phagwara and Jalandhar.

Army instructors and teachers gave lectures and demos. Cadets and students in educational institutions were taught ways to avoid air strikes during war. Brigadier Tiwari said that various methods of civil defence are taught in the classroom or inside the house, in the market, in the playground and in the open field. In case of any civilian getting injured, first aid and evacuation methods for the injured have also been taught.
Cadets and students were also taught how to work in case of power failure. Last night, a one hour blackout was imposed in Jalandhar Cantt which will remain in force in Jalandhar and other districts from 8 pm to 9 pm tonight. The cadets and students were taught about types of fire and methods of extinguishing fire. Brig Ajay further informed that civil defence mock drills were conducted in 300 districts of the country and all the civilians, cadets and students were taught about the methods of safety in case of air attack, nuclear, biological and chemical warfare.
The Group Commander advised to avoid negative news and videos on social media. He asked to rely only on the information and updates given by government channels and agencies. Knowledge of war machinery and civil defence is very important for the cadets and students and many cadets are learning it for the first time in their lives.
