Army Chief presents ‘Veteran Achievers Award’ to 1971 war veterans and others in Jalandhar.

Jalandhar- Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi interacted with the veterans during his visit to Vajra Corps and presented ‘Veteran Achievers Award’ to four distinguished veterans, including a 1971 war veteran, for their outstanding contribution to society, youth empowerment and nation building. They were felicitated during a function held in Jalandhar on Saturday.

They were felicitated during a function held in Jalandhar on Saturday.
These veterans include Colonel Jagdeep Singh - who himself was injured in the war and is in a wheelchair, Commander Gurcharan Singh - a 1971 war veteran, Honorary Captain Gurmail Singh and Havildar Simranjit Singh. He is working for the welfare of all veterans and their families, besides training the youth of the state to join the army, environmental awareness, girls’ education and anti-drug campaign in Punjab.
Earlier, the Army Chief (COAS), along with his wife Sunita Dwivedi and other family members, paid obeisance at Sri Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple) in Amritsar.
