Awareness camp on schemes of Horticulture Department at Malakpur by Horticulture Department.

Derabassi (Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar), July 11: Horticulture Department, District SAS Nagar organized an awareness camp on schemes related to the department at Malakpur village of Derabassi block. During this camp, farmers were made aware about the new guidelines under the National Horticulture Mission Scheme that they can earn more profit by adopting horticulture instead of traditional crops.

During this camp, farmers were made aware about the new guidelines under the National Horticulture Mission Scheme that they can earn more profit by adopting horticulture instead of traditional crops.
The quality of groundwater is decreasing day by day, so horticulture has an important role in dealing with it. Because horticulture related crops can be grown in less water than wheat, paddy and the profit can also be more.
Mr. Narinderbir Singh Mann, Deputy Director Horticulture, SAS City informed that under National Horticulture Mission Scheme and State Plan Scheme, this department provides subsidy of 35-50% on various items like new orchards, cultivation of hybrid vegetables, safe farming, machinery for orchards, small tractors, power tillers, spray pumps, mushroom cultivation, bee keeping, cold storage etc.
On this occasion, Mr. Komalpreet Singh, Horticulture Development Officer, Kharar while addressing the farmers said that maximum benefits of these schemes should be taken while taking up horticulture so that the living standards of small and marginal farmers can be raised. The problems of mushroom growers of Block Derabassi were also heard so that appropriate solutions could be found for them.
On this occasion, Mrs. Amanpreet Kaur, Horticulture Development Officer, Derabassi, Mrs. Kamalpreet Kaur, Horticulture Development Officer, Kurali and other supporting staff were also present. Apart from this, representatives of Soil and Water Conservation Department, Animal Husbandry Department and Agriculture Department publicized the farmer welfare schemes related to their departments.
