On this occasion, students participated in debate, role-play, story writing, poetry writing, slogan writing, poster making and short drama competitions to highlight the ill-effects of increasing population. On this occasion, Madam Sukriti Kashyap said that Population Day is an important occasion. It makes us aware of the rapidly increasing population and the challenges associated with it.
This day reminds us that there is a need to pay serious attention to the issues of population control and family planning. As per the 2023 estimate, India's population is close to 1.4 billion. This number is increasing rapidly and India is likely to become the most populous country by 2030. India is one of the largest and most densely populated countries in the world. It is behind China in terms of population, but it may overtake China in the coming years.
On this occasion, Babneet Kaur said that this day is dedicated to spreading awareness about the importance of contraception and family planning. The purpose of celebrating this day is to focus on important issues related to population explosion, family planning, gender equality, poverty, maternal health and human rights.
