Patiala, December 18- To reduce maternal and infant mortality rate, the main objective of the National Health Mission, the Health Department organizes vaccination at health center/village level every Wednesday to protect pregnant women and newborns from deadly diseases.

As per the instructions of Civil Surgeon Dr. Jatinder Kansal, District Vaccination Officer Dr. Kushaldeep Gill inspected the Mamta Diwas being celebrated in villages Chaura, Dharedi Jattan and Alampur. Health workers motivated the pregnant women who came for vaccination to get their delivery done in government health institutions only. Pregnant mothers were told to ensure vaccination as per the vaccination schedule to protect them and their newborn child from deadly diseases.
District Vaccination Officer Kushaldeep Gill said that on Mother's Day, pregnant women are given free tetanus vaccines, iron folic acid tablets and calcium tablets to increase blood volume.
