
Training program organized for boat drivers at Govind Sagar Lake
Una, December 7- The NDRF team in collaboration with the Block Development Office Bangana organized a special training program for boatmen of various ghats of Govind Sagar Lake on Saturday. About 50 to 60 boatmen and villagers living in the villages around the lake participated in the training program.

Deputy Commissioner Una Jatin Lal informed that the main objective of this training program is to make boat drivers aware and train them for prevention and reduction of water disasters, accidents so that safety standards on waterways can be strengthened and quick response capability can be developed in case of disaster. In the training, regional boat drivers and villagers were informed about the latest techniques of water safety, first aid, use of rescue equipment and various aspects of disaster management, modern techniques and procedures related to boat operation in emergency situations. During this, NDRF experts taught the boat drivers the necessary skills to ensure the safety of themselves and passengers during natural disasters like floods and storms, as well as the correct use of rescue equipment like life jackets, rescue boats and communication equipment. They also gave practical training to evacuate passengers safely and provide first aid in case of emergency. The specific challenges of local waterways and their effective solutions were discussed in the training.
NDRF officer Assistant Commandant Sunil Kumar said that the aim of this training program is to make the boatmen self-reliant and competent so that they can respond effectively in case of any water accident and minimize the loss of life. He said that the role of boatmen is very important during disasters. This training will help them develop the ability to respond quickly and effectively in emergency situations.
All the participants who attended the training programme appreciated it and found it extremely beneficial for the safety of waterways.
