
Crackdown on illegal mining in Una, machinery will not run without registration and GPS tracking
Una, March 13- Taking decisive steps to curb illegal mining activities in Una district, the district administration has issued strict guidelines. District Magistrate Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal has directed to take these strict steps to control mining activities in compliance with the orders of the National Green Tribunal. He clarified that no mining machinery will operate in the district without registration and GPS tracking device.

District Magistrate Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal has directed to take these strict steps to control mining activities in compliance with the orders of the National Green Tribunal. He clarified that no mining machinery will operate in the district without registration and GPS tracking device.
Compulsory registration of mining machinery
According to the order issued, it has been made mandatory to register all JCBs, excavators and tippers operating in the district within seven days. Legal action will be taken against non-registered machinery under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.
Compulsory GPS device
It will be mandatory to install GPS tracking device in all mining machines and link it with the concerned registration officers. This will help in monitoring illegal mining activities and ensure that mining takes place only in approved areas.
Strict action will be taken on violation of the order
The Deputy Commissioner said that immediate action will be taken against those violating the order. Vehicle registration will be suspended for non-compliance and legal action will be taken under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 and the Minerals and Mines (Development and Regulation) Act, 1957.
Accountability of officials will be fixed
To monitor mining activities, all concerned officials have been instructed to join the Suraksha Mitra portal (https://vltd-hp-gov-in½) and create their login ID within seven days. Action will also be taken against officials who do not comply.
Jatin Lal said that illegal mining is causing huge damage to the environment, which needs to be stopped by taking strict steps. The administration will strictly implement these orders and ensure responsible mining practices in the district. He said that strict action will be taken against persons involved in illegal mining activities under Sections 51 to 60 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005 and other legal provisions.
