Una, March 13- In a series of concrete efforts to crack down on illegal and unscientific mining, Deputy Commissioner Una Jatin Lal on Wednesday conducted a surprise inspection in the district along with Superintendent of Police Rakesh Singh and officials of the Mining Department. During the inspection, strict action was taken under the National Green Tribunal rules when violation of mining rules was found near the Swan river in Ghaluwal area. During this, a JCB was seized.
The Deputy Commissioner said that conservation of the natural resources of the district is the responsibility of the administration. Illegal mining causes serious damage to the environment as well as poses a threat to the local communities. The administration will continue to conduct regular inspections and take strict action against such illegal activities. He also appealed to the local people to immediately share information about activities like illegal mining with the administration so that the natural wealth can be protected by ensuring quick action.
It is worth mentioning that the Himachal government has adopted a zero tolerance policy on illegal mining. Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu has given clear instructions that strict action should be taken against those who harm the state through illegal and unscientific mining. Along with this, Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri has also instructed the Una district administration to keep a strict vigil on illegal mining and take strict action along with surprise inspections.
