New Delhi- Taking a big decision today, the Modi Cabinet has approved the One Country One Election proposal. According to the information received from the sources, the Cabinet has approved the report sent by former President Ram Nath Kovind and now this proposal will be brought in the winter session of the Parliament. After approval here, it will be forwarded to the current President Murmu.
It is to be noted that the committee headed by the former president had submitted its report in March on the possibilities of one country one election. According to the suggestions given in this report, as a first step, elections to Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabhas should be held simultaneously. The committee has also recommended that local body elections should also be held within 100 days of Lok Sabha and state assembly elections. With this, elections will be held at all levels in a certain time in the entire country. At present, the elections to the Legislative Assemblies and the Lok Sabha are different.
The purpose of one country-one election
All elections in India are to be combined, which means that the Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha and local elections will be held at the same time. It was proposed in Ramnath Kovind's report that the Vidhan Sabha and Lok Sabha elections will be held at the same time and the lower unit elections will also be held within 100 days. Along with this, it was suggested to keep full attention focused on development by doing it together. The government believes that in this way black money will be reined in, there will also be relief from repeated election rigging in the country. With which the development works will be done at a faster pace. This will directly save the country money.
