Nawanshahr - District Magistrate Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar Rajesh Dhiman using the powers under Section 163 of the Indian Citizen Protection Code, 2023 to prevent noise pollution within the limits of District Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar and protect the health of common citizens; Modification of silencer of two-wheelers and bursting of crackers with silencer has been completely banned.
These orders will also apply to shopkeepers/mechanics replacing silencers and vehicles with silencers blowing crackers. Senior Police Captain, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar will be responsible for implementing these orders. In the issued orders, the District Magistrate has said that it has come to his attention that anti-social miscreants are changing the silencers of two-wheelers (especially Bullet Motorcycles) and setting firecrackers with silencers in District Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar.
 As the sound of these firecrackers is higher than normal hearing capacity, it increases the noise pollution and has a negative effect on the ear nerves of the common people, the elderly and children. The sound of crackers suddenly scares the sleeping people at night, due to which the mental stress increases. Apart from this, due to the sharp and loud sound of firecrackers played with silencer, there is also fear of loss of life and property of heart patients. These orders will continue till 27 December 2024.
