Patiala: The Patiala Social Welfare Society has been continuously working in the fields of social service and environmental conservation for the past 25 years. This year, the society is celebrating its silver jubilee. A program organized on the occasion of World Environment Day conveyed messages regarding environmental conservation, tree plantation, and the adoption of a plastic-free lifestyle.
Speaking on the occasion, Tejinder Singh, Chairman of Patiala Development, stated that every individual should plant as many trees as possible. He emphasized that it is the duty of every family to keep their surroundings green so that people can access pure oxygen and lead healthy, comfortable lives. He also urged people to stop using plastic and switch to cloth or jute bags.
Welcoming the attendees, Society representative Vijay Kumar Goyal noted that the Patiala Social Welfare Society has distributed over 150,000 cloth bags to date. He mentioned that, alongside tree plantation activities on World Environment Day, cloth bags were distributed, and awareness was raised about keeping the environment clean and planting more trees.
During the event, ITI teachers were honored for their outstanding contributions. Those felicitated included Mrs. Neena Rani, Mrs. Jasdeep Kaur, Mrs. Gurveer Kaur, Balbir Kaur, Seenu Saini, Sonu Satija, Rajo Rani, Ritika Sharma, Amarjit Singh, Umesh Gahra, Malkiyat Singh, Jatinder Kumar, Parveen Kumar, Inderjit Singh, Balbir Singh, and Sam Lal.
The Society also conducted a tree plantation drive at the venue. Additionally, a decision was made to donate an air conditioner (AC) to the ITI.
During the cultural segment, Satish Vidrohi and Barjinder Thakur entertained the audience with their performances while conveying the message of environmental conservation. Several dignitaries, including Harbans Bansal, Rajesh Verma, Ajit Singh Bhatti, Satinder Kumar Gupta, Sanjay Dhir, Sohan Lal Kansal, Kamal Goyal, and Ravinder Singh Sabharwal, were present on this occasion.
