Nawanshahr (Des Raj Bali):- An awareness camp was organised by the Red Cross Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Drug Addicts, Nawanshahr, at Government Middle School, Village Kang (Nawanshahr), under the “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan” and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. The camp was presided over by Shri Tarsem Lal, Head Teacher.

On this occasion, Chaman Singh (Project Director) first gave the students brief information about the Red Cross organisation and said that the organisation works towards saving humanity. While making the students aware of the harmful effects of drugs, he said that every form of drug addiction is life-threatening. Many children, after growing up, make friends with other companions and start consuming drugs without thinking about the consequences. Their dreams as well as the dreams of their parents are left shattered.

On this occasion, while speaking on the theme “Participation in Cleanliness, Swachh Bharat, Viksit Bharat” under Swachhata Hi Seva, it was explained that just as we keep our bodies clean, similarly we should keep our surroundings clean. Various types of vehicles, pesticides, plastic, waste and other materials are polluting the environment and are also affecting the earth and water, which are causing harm to our health. On this occasion, the proper method of cleaning hands was demonstrated through practical exercise. At the end, the students of the middle and primary schools and the entire gathering, including the villagers present, were administered an oath against drug abuse.

On this occasion, Shri Tarsem Lal, Head Teacher, thanked the visiting Red Cross team and assured them that they would extend full cooperation to the Nasha Mukt Bharat campaign and the War Against Drugs and would continue to create awareness among the students. School staff members Dharampal, Talwinder Singh, Priya, Hargopal, Mid-Day Meal staff and students were present on the occasion.
