Chandigarh, August 21:- Haryana Health Minister Aarti Singh Rao said that availability of quality medicines and modern diagnostic facilities will be ensured in the health institutions of the state, for which medicines and machines are being purchased as per the requirement.
The Health Minister gave this information here today after chairing the Special High Powered Purchase Committee. In the meeting of this committee, several major procurement proposals were approved to strengthen health services across the state through "Haryana Medical Services Corporation Limited".
Aarti Singh Rao said that the committee has approved the purchase of 117 important and essential medicines worth about Rs 97 crore through "Haryana Medical Services Corporation Limited" to ensure uninterrupted availability of essential medicines in government health institutions across the state. The approved medicines include injectable medicines, antibiotics, antipsychotics, antidiabetic medicines, cardiovascular medicines and other medicines required for the treatment and management of various diseases. Special emphasis will be laid on quality, cost-effectiveness and timely supply during this procurement, so that essential medicines are easily available to patients in government health facilities.
In addition, with an objective of strengthening advanced blood testing and diagnostic capabilities and improving patient safety and quality of care, the Committee has approved one-time purchase of an ID-NAT fully automated system for the Blood Bank Centre of PGIMS, Rohtak at a cost of about Rs. 2.40 crore. Also, for modernisation of imaging services and facilitating accurate and timely diagnosis, a Digital Radiography System with Fluoroscopy was also approved for PGIMS, Rohtak under a two-year rate contract at a cost of approximately Rs. 2.20 crore.
He further informed that in order to strengthen district level eye care services and improve access to specialized eye care check-ups, the Committee has approved the purchase of 22 Optical Coherence Tonometers under a two-year rate contract at an estimated cost of Rs. 6.62 crore for 22 District Civil Hospitals of Haryana.
Besides, the purchase of 19 “Fully-Automated Blood Culture Systems” under a two-year rate contract at a cost of Rs. 2.06 crore for District Civil Hospitals and Government Medical Colleges of Haryana to help in timely and reliable detection of bloodstream infections and appropriate treatment.
Health Minister Aarti Singh Rao said that the Special High Powered Purchase Committee has approved the purchase of the above medicines, machines and other facilities for the government health institutions of the state, which reflects the state government's commitment to strengthen public health infrastructure, ensure availability of quality medicines and modern diagnostic facilities and provide accessible, time-bound and patient-centric health services to the people of Haryana.
