Karnal, November 2: Union Minister for Energy, Housing and Urban Affairs, Manohar Lal said that today the country is independent and is led by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. Our armed forces are protecting the country. Today we will not provoke any country, but if someone provokes us, we will not spare them either.
The unity and integrity of the country are very important to us, and there will be no compromise on this. India has to become a developed and self-reliant nation by 2047. With the spirit of 'country first, me later,' attention must also be paid to character building and the eradication of social evils.
Union Minister Manohar Lal was addressing the participants of the Unity March as the chief guest at Karna Lake on Sunday at the conclusion of the Unity March. He paid homage to the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, by offering flowers at his portrait.

**United the princely states
Union Minister Manohar Lal said that the Unity March reflects the unity and integrity of the country. At the time of independence, the country had 562 princely states. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man, united all but three princely states to form a strong nation. His efforts later convinced the states of Junagadh and Hyderabad to adopt the Indian Constitution.

Nehru was given the responsibility of integrating the princely state of Jammu and Kashmir, but the matter became entangled. Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee lost his life for raising his voice against the separate head, constitution, and flag of Jammu and Kashmir. Now, the central government has abolished Article 370 there, and the laws of the country apply in Jammu and Kashmir, like other states. He said that the Iron Man also hoisted the Indian Navy flag in Lakshadweep.

**Terrorism and Naxalism curbed
Union Minister Manohar Lal said that due to the efforts of the central government, terrorism, Naxalism, and communal riots have been curbed. Naxalites are surrendering. A wave of patriotism is sweeping through the northeastern states. He called on the youth and citizens to unite with honesty, integrity, and responsibility and utilize the country's resources and policies in the national interest.

**India on its way to becoming the third economic power
Union Minister Manohar Lal said that today India is on its way to becoming the third largest economic power in the world. Remembering former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, he referred to the Pokhran nuclear tests. He said that economic sanctions have been imposed on the country today. Similar sanctions were imposed during the Pokhran tests.
He said that these sanctions will soon be lifted. There is no need to panic. Our population is our asset and it will be utilized wisely. India will soon become the third economic power in the world. India is exporting electricity to other countries today. Education, knowledge, and skills are being promoted in the country.
