Karnal, November 9: Union Minister Manohar Lal chaired a meeting of the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (Disha) in the auditorium of the Mini Secretariat today. He directed officials to ensure transparency and speed in the implementation of centrally sponsored schemes and state government welfare schemes.
The Minister reviewed 22 important schemes of 11 departments and issued necessary guidelines to officials to ensure maximum benefit from the schemes and to expedite the implementation of development projects.
In the meeting, Union Minister Manohar Lal urged officials to prepare tailored plans for district-specific development projects and public welfare schemes, not limit themselves to merely meeting targets. He urged them to encourage as many people as possible to apply for the Pradhan Mantri Urban and Rural Housing Schemes (Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana) so that the dream of owning a house for every poor and needy person can be realized.
During the review of the Agriculture Department's 'Aatma' scheme, he directed the Deputy Director of the Agriculture Department to encourage farmers to practice natural farming and provide them with training so that they can increase their income by earning good profits at low costs.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, the Union Minister said that loans are provided under the PM Mudra Yojana for self-employment. He urged people to be aware of the scheme's benefits to ensure that maximum people can apply.
He said that this scheme provides a subsidy of 10 to 35 percent on loans up to ?50 lakh for self-employment. Appropriate steps must be taken to address difficulties faced through banks and PACS.
He stated that the national target of 30 million rural and 30 million urban houses has been declared under the PM Awas Yojana over the next five years. One crore houses will be built in urban areas and 20 million in rural areas across the country. Applications have been invited on the portal. Maximum applications should be received under the scheme so that every needy person can get a home.
Manohar Lal said that the Vita Booth Scheme is a good employment-oriented scheme and will be further simplified to enable more people to apply and benefit. He added that the loan amount for small shopkeepers (street vendors) has been increased under the Swanidhi Scheme.
The loan amount under this scheme has been increased from ?10,000 to ?15,000 and from ?20,000 to ?25,000. A credit card of ?30,000 is being provided with a loan of ?50,000 so that the revolving fund can be used repeatedly.
Taking advantage of such small schemes brings a significant change in the lives of poor people in society. He said that loans are provided to women through self-help groups so that they can become self-reliant and independent. He said that women in the groups should be encouraged to improve their poor CIBIL scores so that they too can be eligible for loans next year.
Expressing happiness over the successful organization of the 350th Martyrdom Day Marathon of Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji held in Karnal, he said that 61,000 people participated in the marathon today. The marathon was organized in three categories: 21 kilometers, 10 kilometers, and 5 kilometers, and all participants will be given certificates as incentives.
The Union Minister informed that various programs are being organized across the state to commemorate the 350th Martyrdom Day of Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. Among these, the Karnal marathon program was a successful and record-breaking event. In this series, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the 350th Martyrdom Day program of Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji to be held in Kurukshetra on November 25th.
In the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Uttam Singh welcomed Karnal MP and Union Minister Manohar Lal and other public representatives and informed them about the schemes of various departments kept in the agenda of the meeting. He instructed the officials to strictly follow the guidelines of Union Minister Manohar Lal and expedite the implementation of the schemes related to their respective departments.
On this occasion, Government Chief Whip and Indri MLA Ramkumar Kashyap, Nilokheri MLA Bhagwandas Kabirpanthi, Karnal MLA Jagmohan Anand, Assandh MLA Yogendra Rana, Mayor Renu Bala Gupta, BJP District President Praveen Lathar, MP representative Kavindra Rana and officials of all departments from the district administration were present.
