Patiala, July 28:- On the death anniversary of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, Sh. Harinder Singh Keer, Assistant Commissioner and President Awardee of the Red Cross Bhai Ghanaiya Ji Ambulance Brigade Patiala, organized inter-school competitions on First Aid, CPR, victim rescue, fire safety, heart attacks, cardiac arrest, fainting, heatwaves, and saving precious lives during high fever. These were held at Veer Haqikat Rai School with the collaboration of Sh. Kaka Ram Verma, Chief Trainer of the First Aid, Safety, and Health Awareness Mission, to train and practice saving precious lives during emergencies among students.
Expressing gratitude, Principal Smt. Sarla Bhatnagar stated that if students or professors had administered First Aid and CPR at the Shillong college on July 27, 2015, his life could have been saved. In these competitions, only 15 private schools participated with junior and senior teams, while not a single student from government schools took part, yet they demonstrated relevant problems commendably.
In the Junior Group, teams from National High School, Veer Haqikat Rai School, Green Well High School, Soni Public School, and Arya High School emerged victorious. In the Senior Group, teams from Soni Public School, Veer Haqikat Rai School, National High School, B.N. Khalsa School, Arya Kanya Senior Secondary, and Tiny James School won.
The winning teams were honored with special trophies by Sh. Harinder Singh Keer, and participating students were awarded medals and certificates by Sh. Kaka Ram Verma. The judging for these competitions was conducted by Sh. Jarnail Singh, Sukhnaib Singh, Ravinder Kaur Sidhu, Kaka Ram Verma, and Harinder Singh Keer. Program Coordinator Smt. Sachna Sharma delivered the vote of thanks, stating that such training sessions, practices, and competitions for preventing loss of life and property and assisting victims should be conducted continuously so that maximum students can be transformed into guardian angels for victims.
