Hoshiarpur- As part of the state-level campaign against drugs, a special training of defense committees was organized today at DAV Senior Secondary School, Hoshiarpur. In his address, the SDM said that drugs are a social evil, which affects not only the individual but also the entire family and society. He said that to create a drug-free society, it is the need of the hour to make the youth aware.
He said that it is the responsibility of every citizen to save the youth from drugs and for this, the administration, police, social organizations and the common people will have to work together. SDM Gursimranjit Kaur further said that the 'War on Drugs' campaign being run by the Punjab government will be successful only when all sections of the society play their active role in it.
He appealed to the members of the Village Defense Committees to spread awareness, keep a watch on drug-related activities and provide information to the police administration. He said that the aim of this campaign is not only to stop drugs, but also to motivate the youth in a positive direction, so that they can move forward on the path of sports, education and employment.
On this occasion, DSP Dev Dutt Sharma said that strict action is being taken against drug peddlers by the police administration. He appealed to the public to immediately inform the police about any information related to drug trafficking, so that immediate action can be taken against the culprits.
Satwant Singh Sian, District Coordinator of the Drug Detoxification Morcha, while motivating the members present, said that society can become healthy and prosperous only when the youth become free from drugs and move forward towards education, sports and employment. Vidhan Sabha Coordinator Kanchan Deol also addressed the gathering. Other members of the Drug Detoxification Morcha were also present on this occasion.
