Hoshiarpur: Former Cabinet Minister and senior BJP leader **Tikshan Sood** stated that he attended a large public gathering organized by BJP's prospective candidate **Thakur Kewal Singh** in Ward No. 28. Besides Sood, several BJP leaders and workers, including **Amarjeet Singh Laddi, Yashpal Sharma, Sandeep Tiwari, Harbhajan Pal, Kamal Verma, Darshan Singh Sidhu, Manjit, Kamla Rani, Bhagat Singh, Kuldeep Singh Saini, Ashok Thakur, Gori, Parmjit Singh Asma, and Vaishali Sharma**, were also present.
Addressing the gathering, Sood described Thakur Kewal Singh as an honest and clean-image individual. He said that Kewal Singh is neither a party defector nor does he have any criminal background. Sood added that the Bharatiya Janata Party has formed the government at the Centre three times and is currently governing in 22 states due to its commitment to public service and good governance.
He said that during the BJP's tenure, several development works were carried out effectively in municipal corporations. According to Sood, the people of Punjab have already rejected the performance of both the Aam Aadmi Party and the Congress. He stated that voters had chosen the Aam Aadmi Party as an alternative after becoming dissatisfied with Congress rule, but instead of bringing positive change, the government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has pushed Punjab into a “dark era.”
Sood alleged that despite promises of making Punjab free from gangsterism, gangsters continue to operate and communicate with the public from inside jails. He claimed that members of the business community are being harassed through extortion threats. He further alleged that drug abuse has increased, justice has not been delivered in cases of sacrilege, and people are troubled by the deteriorating law-and-order situation in the state.
He asserted that only the Bharatiya Janata Party can bring Punjab out of the present situation and restore peace, development, and good governance.
During the event, dozens of young people, influenced by the policies and vision of the BJP, joined the party under the leadership of **Arun Kumar**. They were welcomed into the party and honored with traditional BJP scarves.
