Ratia, October 5 (Advocate Gurpreet Singh Mander):- A massive protest march was taken out in the city demanding the release of jailed Sikh prisoners. Jathedar Jagdish Singh Jhinda, president of the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee, participated in the protest march.
The protest march was organized with the cooperation of Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee members Jathedar Kaka Singh Ladhuvas, Jathedar Gurmel Singh Sahinal, Jathedar Iqbal Singh Khokhar, Jathedar Karamjit Singh Fatehabad, Manager Daljit Singh and the sangat of the area.
Apart from various organizations, saints and Sikh devotees from the region, a large number of women, elderly people and children also participated in the protest. Bibi Amarjit Kaur, former member of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, was also specially present on the occasion.
On the occasion, Jathedar Jagdish Singh Jhinda and the members present submitted a memorandum through the SDM Ratia to the President of India and the Prime Minister regarding the release of Sikh prisoners lodged in jails.
Addressing the gathering, Jathedar Jagdish Singh Jhinda said that governments should not discriminate against Sikhs in any manner. He said the government should seriously consider the issue of releasing Sikh prisoners who have completed their sentences.
He said the Sikh community has been demanding the release of jailed Sikh prisoners for a long time. Referring to the health of Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara’s mother, he said his family has demanded that Bhai Hawara be granted parole for a few days so that he can meet his mother.
The government should take immediate action in the matter while keeping the humanitarian aspect in mind. Jathedar Jhinda said the government should seriously consider the sentiments of the Sikh community regarding the release of prisoners and immediate steps should be taken to release those whose sentences have been completed.
During the protest march, the Sikh community raised its voice in support of the release of the prisoners and demanded that the government resolve the matter at the earliest.
During the protest march, the Ratia Bar Association extended its support under the leadership of its president, Mahesh Taneja.
Baba Kashmira Singh, Baba Harpreet Singh, Haryana Granthi Sabha president Hakam Singh, Jarnail Singh, Satnam Singh, Kashmir Singh, Manjit Singh, Ajaib Singh Mander, representatives of various religious organizations and Nihang Singh groups, and a large number of Sikh devotees were present on the occasion.
