Patiala: Expressing deep sorrow over the untimely demise of Ustad Pooran Shah Koti, a prominent figure in the Punjabi music world associated with the Patiala Gharana, Professor Sandhu Warianvi, a patron of the world of poets, and President Jagdish Rana said that the passing of Ustad Pooran Shah Koti, renowned as a pillar of Sufi singing, is a great shock not only to his family but also to all lovers of Sufi Punjabi music.
They said that the compositions of famous Sufi poets, such as Shah Hussain's "Rabba Mere Haal Da Mehram Tu" and "Saiyo Ni Asi Naina De Akhe Lage," and Baba Bulleh Shah's "Uth Gaye Gawandon Yaar Rabba Hun Ki Kariye," sung by Pooran Shah Koti, are still listened to today and provide solace to the soul.
They said that while he dedicated his life to singing only Sufi compositions, his son, Master Saleem, has earned a name for himself in Bollywood and around the world. Famous singers like Hans Raj Hans and the late Sabar Koti, Jasbir Jassi, and Ranjan Romi, who received vocal training from him, are counted among the most respected singers.
His disciples also have many disciples of their own. Ustad Barkat Sidhu and Ustad Pooran Shah Koti have been known as pillars of Sufi singing in Punjab. There is perhaps no one left in Punjab who can sing like him.
The General Secretary of the world of poets, the renowned ghazal singer Gurdeep Singh Saini, Secretary and lecturer Jaswinder Singh Jassi, and Treasurer Gurnam Bawa said that the permanent loss of Ustad Pooran Shah Koti has sent a wave of grief through the music and literary worlds. 
Besides these, Balvir Kaur Raikoti, the Indian chief lecturer of the World Punjabi Sabha Canada, Dr. Kanwal Bhalla, president of the Literature, Art and Cultural Forum, Swinder Sandhu, Prof. Akveer Kaur, Kulwinder Gakhal, president of the Punjab Literary Forum, Amar Singh, Harjinder Jindi, Madhavi Agarwal from the Women's Poetry Forum, Jagdish Dalia, president of Adabi Duniya, Mittar Manjit, Kimti Kaiser, Gurdeep Mukaddam, president of Doaba Sahit Sabha Ludhiana Jhikka, Pawan Bhammiyan from Doaba Sahit Sabha Garhshankar, Principal Gurjant Singh, and Makhan Luhar, Sham Sargundi, Gurmukh Luhar from Naveen Chetna Punjabi Writers Forum, along with other literary figures such as Satpal Sahlo, Resham Chitrakar, Sham Sundar, Ranjit Posi, Des Raj Bali, Hardial Hoshiarpuri, Jarnail Sakhi, Daljit Mahimi, Lali Kartarpuri, Sirat Sikhiarthi, Manoj Phagwarvi, and other poets also paid tribute to Ustad Pooran Shah Koti.
