Patiala 24 October- As per the directions of Civil Surgeon Dr. Jagpal Inder Singh, under the Dry Day being celebrated every Friday to prevent dengue, the teams of the Health Department went door to door in the streets/mohallas and checked the stagnant water sources. Nursing students and ASHA workers also participated on this occasion.
Civil Surgeon Dr. Jagpal Inder Singh said that the arrangements for the treatment of dengue are complete in all the government hospitals of Patiala and all the necessary medicines are available and the teams of the Health Department are working with full vigilance in all the areas.
He said that water should not be allowed to stagnate anywhere and if water remains stagnant, then black oil should be poured into the stagnant water sources. If anyone feels high fever, headache, pain behind the eyes and pain in the whole body, then they should go to the nearest health center and get tested for dengue.
District Epidemiologist Dr. Sumit Singh said that this time 436 dengue cases have been found in the entire Patiala district so far. He said that this week, 31399 houses across the district were checked for dengue larvae and the teams destroyed the larvae found at 353 places on the spot.
He further said that so far, 997249 houses have been surveyed by the health teams under the Dry Day campaign, out of which the larvae found at 9894 places have been destroyed on the spot and the concerned families were made aware about future prevention.
He said that this is the peak breeding season for mosquitoes that spread dengue fever, so screened windows and doors should be kept closed during the day and mosquito repellents such as All-Out should be applied during the day.
