Rahon:- Harshdeep Bharti, Chief Volunteer of Jyot Social Awareness and Welfare Society Rahon, said that for the new construction of SC Dharamshala (Gurudwara Sachkhand Sahib) Mohalla Sarafan Rahon, an estimate of Rs. 6,36,125/- was made by the Rahon Municipal Council in October 2020. For this construction, the council approved resolution no.-18 dated 11/01/2021 (SDM Nawanshahr) and a tender was also called for it. 52/2-L permission was also taken under the Punjab Municipal Act regarding this grant.
But this tender was not filled by any contractor society. After this, due to the schedule of the February 2022 assembly elections, this work was further delayed. Harshdeep Bharti said that after this, tenders were again floated and the contract was awarded to ‘The Nawanshahr Cooperative Labour Society Limited Balachaur’. Its work order was also issued. But even after a long time of receiving the notice from this society, this development work was not started. In this regard, Mrs. Navjot Kaur Bharti, Municipal Councilor Rahon, had requested the Executive Officer, Municipal Council, Rahon through her letter No. 001/Special/2022 dated 21/03/2022 and letter No. 001/Special/2023 dated 18/01/2023. Apart from this, a detailed request was also made by her in the meeting of the Municipal Council Rahon dated 19/06/2025 through Resolution No.-212.
Harshdeep Bharti further informed that a written request was made to the Implementation Officer, Municipal Council, Rahon, by the Social Awareness and Welfare Society, Rahon, through letter no. 04/2025 dated 05/12/2025, under the signatures of hundreds of residents of the locality. But despite getting assurances every time, the work of starting and completing this development work of constructing SC Dharamshala (Gurudwara Sachkhand Sahib) Mohalla Sarafan Rahon has not been done till date even after a long period of more than 5 years and there is a very objectionable delay.
Harshdeep Bharti informed that due to the lack of adequate building of Dharamshala, the common people face a lot of difficulty in conducting the required programs. He has strongly demanded from the administration that this development work of constructing Dharamshala should be started as soon as possible and completed. Harshdeep Bharti also said that he has obtained the entire record related to this grant under the Right to Information Act-2005.
He said that if the construction work of SC Dharamshala is not started by 15th February 2026, then he will be forced to approach the Hon'ble Court for legal action against this objectionable delay keeping in mind the public interest.
