Chandigarh, September 15:- Thalassemic Charitable Trust (TCT) and the Department of Transfusion Medicine, PGIMER, in association with Manavta Kalyan Seva Society, organised a blood donation camp on September 13, 2026, at Shri Siddh Baba Balak Nath Temple, Sector 29, Chandigarh. It was the 341st blood donation camp organised by TCT.
The camp was inaugurated by Chandigarh Municipal Corporation Councillor Rajinder Kumar Sharma. On the occasion, Councillor and former Deputy Mayor Taruna Mehta encouraged the blood donors. Motivating people, she said that regular blood donation is extremely important for saving the lives of patients suffering from thalassemia and other serious diseases. A thalassemia awareness desk was also set up at the camp to create awareness among people about HPLC testing before marriage.
At this first blood donation camp organised by Manavta Kalyan Seva Society, 58 donors voluntarily donated blood. On behalf of the Trust, Society President Pawan Sharma and his team were honoured with mementoes.
Trust Member Secretary Rajinder Kalra, Senior Vice President A.P. Singh and Vikas Makkar played an important role in making the camp successful. Head of the Department of Transfusion Medicine, Prof. (Dr.) R.R. Sharma, and Rajinder Kalra expressed their gratitude to all blood donors, organisers and the PGI medical team.
