Ratia/Fatehabad, October 24 - Sub-Divisional Magistrate Surendra Singh inspected grain markets and various rice mills in the Ratia area on Friday and issued instructions to the concerned officials. During the inspection, he visited the Ratia grain market, Dhani Dadupur, and Lali village markets and received detailed information about the paddy procurement process from the Market Committee Secretary and related officials.
He stated that during the paddy season, crop procurement is proceeding smoothly in all markets in the Ratia subdivision. Problems faced by traders and farmers are being addressed on a priority basis. SDM Surendra Singh also discussed the procurement and lifting processes with the Market Committee officials.
He gave strict instructions to officials involved in procurement and lifting that farmers should not face any problems in selling their crops, and that the markets should have proper arrangements for cleanliness, drinking water, electricity, and other basic amenities. During this period, the SDM observed and inspected the entire paddy procurement process in the market and sought feedback from officials. He also obtained detailed reports on all aspects of the procurement process, from gate passes to the market gates. He also appealed to all farmers not to burn stubble or other crop residue in their fields after harvesting, but to manage it properly using modern agricultural equipment. These equipment allow farmers to compost the crop residue in the field or sell it in bales using straw balers. The government is providing incentives of up to ?1,200 per acre to promote crop residue management.
