Dhuri, 17 March: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann dedicated a 50-bed Sub-Divisional Hospital and a 30-bed Mother-Child Health Care Block to the people at Dhuri. Built at an approximate cost of 21.65 crore rupees, this project is being considered an important step toward strengthening the health infrastructure of Sangrur district.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that this new hospital will provide modern health services to thousands of people not only in Dhuri city but also in nearly 70 nearby villages. He stated that this modern hospital complex, spread over approximately 73,000 square feet, will provide facilities such as OPD, indoor treatment, emergency services, and modern diagnostic facilities.
The Chief Minister said that the 50-bed Sub-Divisional Hospital has been designed to provide general as well as specialized health services, while the 30-bed Mother-Child Health Centre will strengthen healthcare services for mothers and newborn babies. He informed that this hospital was originally established in 1978 with 30 beds, and now it has been upgraded into a centre with a capacity of 80 beds equipped with modern facilities.
Providing information about the hospital infrastructure, he said that it includes 13 OPD rooms, an Emergency Block, two Registration Counters, and 7 Operation Theatres for major and minor surgeries. Apart from this, three laboratories, diagnostic facilities such as ECG, Ultrasound, and X-ray are also available. The hospital also has 12 private rooms, 6 general wards, a drug store, 11 nurse stations, and two lifts.
The Chief Minister said that surgeries, knee replacement surgery, and specialized health services including Ear-Nose-Throat (ENT) will also be available here. In the Mother-Child Hospital, facilities for normal and Caesarean deliveries will be available under the supervision of experienced doctors.
He said that necessary treatments and tests for mothers and children will be provided free of cost. Along with this, the government is providing health coverage up to 10 lakh rupees per family, so that no family is deprived of treatment due to financial difficulties.
The Chief Minister stated that the government has recruited more than 1500 doctors and has also expanded the network of Aam Aadmi Clinics. He said that this project will prove to be a major facility for more than 58,000 residents of Dhuri and thousands of people in the surrounding areas.
