Hansi:—The situation in the state today has deteriorated to a chaotic state—akin to "Andher Nagari, Chaupat Raja" (a realm of darkness ruled by a foolish king). There is no one here to listen to the public's grievances, nor is there anyone to hold officials accountable; meanwhile, corruption within the government has reached its zenith. This assertion was made by Digvijay Chautala, the State Youth President of the Jannayak Janta Party (JJP), while addressing a press conference held in Hansi.
Digvijay Chautala stated that government officials siphoned off ?509 crore in public funds to purchase property and jewelry, and the government remained completely oblivious to it. It is only now, after the matter has hit the headlines, that action is finally being initiated. Similarly, in connection with the "Paddy Scam," more than 30 government officials have been sent to jail over the past few months. This paddy scam—perpetrated with the tacit complicity of the government—amounts to over ?5,000 crore, yet BJP leaders continue to maintain a deafening silence on the matter.
Most recently, a scam worth ?1,300 crore has surfaced within the Electricity Department, wherein a private company based in Sikkim was issued a payment of ?1,300 crore without the knowledge or approval of either the Chief Minister or the Power Minister. The entire state is currently in an uproar, and government officials have become completely unbridled.
Speaking specifically about Hansi, Chautala remarked that crime has reached an alarming peak in the city, effectively turning it into Haryana's "Crime Capital." Criminal incidents are occurring here every other day—whether in the form of threats, extortion demands, or murders. He further pointed out that in the villages surrounding Hansi, floodwaters have yet to be fully drained, even five months after the rains—a glaring testament to the government's failure. What development can be expected from a government that cannot even manage to drain water from agricultural fields? Furthermore, traffic on the Hansi-Barwala road has remained suspended for the past six months; this serves as a stark mirror reflecting the reality of the government's so-called "development." For a government incapable of even constructing a single road, making claims of overall development is utterly futile.
He concluded by noting that during his tenure as Deputy Chief Minister, Dushyant Chautala had undertaken extensive work to foster the development of Hansi. The Hansi-Bhiwani four-lane highway, which is operational today, was approved by Dushyant Chautala. He commissioned the construction of a new rest house in Hansi. He also ensured the construction of a Railway Overbridge (ROB) on the Hansi-Umra road and another on the Hansi-Tosham road. Accusing the BJP government of bias, he stated that the four-lane project connecting Titram Mor to Hansi—via Narnaund, Jind, and Nagura—had been sanctioned by Dushyant Chautala, but the BJP subsequently cancelled it.
Speaking on the alleged ration card scam, he remarked that prior to securing votes, the BJP had reclassified every individual's ration card status to Below Poverty Line (BPL). However, once the votes were cast, they cancelled over one million ration cards. This, too, constitutes a scam; the BJP misled the public to garner votes, only to revoke their ration cards once the election was over. Taking a jibe at the 'Lado Lakshmi Scheme,' the State Youth President noted that before the elections, the BJP had promised to provide every woman with ?2,100 under the scheme. However, by imposing various conditions, the benefits of the scheme are now being extended to only 1 million women out of a total of approximately 12.5 million eligible women. These individuals have thus betrayed the trust of the women of the state.
Launching an attack on the Congress party, he asserted that the truth regarding the Congress's practice of selling election tickets has now been exposed for all to see. A female leader within the Congress—along with her husband—has now openly accused the party's top leadership of selling tickets.
Cornering the BJP government over the recent hike in gas prices, he argued that the government is shifting the burden of its own failures onto the public. Since the impending gas crisis was foreseeable, the government should have made adequate arrangements in advance. Currently, commercial gas cylinders are unavailable, a situation that has forced 50 percent of hotels to shut down, leaving many people unemployed. The gas shortage is expected to intensify further in the coming days, leading to an even graver situation—for which the BJP government bears full responsibility.
Regarding the rally organized by the Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) in Hansi on March 13th—marking the birthday of Dr. Ajay Singh Chautala—he announced that hundreds of thousands of people are expected to attend the event. A massive marquee has been erected for this occasion, and three stages have been set up. All of Dr. Ajay Singh Chautala’s friends and classmates have been specially invited to attend the rally. Furthermore, 65,000 *laddoos* have been prepared to offer a sweet treat to every individual attending the rally.
