Dera Bassi, February 11:- In compliance with the instructions of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann and under the leadership of Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur, a special camp was organized today at Shri Ram Mandir, Derabassi regarding the health and needs of the elderly.
Derabassi MLA S. Kuljit Singh Randhawa mainly attended this camp and interacted with the elderly and informed them about the welfare schemes being run by the government. He assured on this occasion that the Bhagwant Singh Mann government is making special efforts for the care of the elderly, under which in addition to these camps, yoga sessions, small-scale sports and other competitions are also being organized for them.
District Social Security Officer Navdeep Kaur Sidhu said that in this camp organized by the Social Security, Women and Child Development Department, free health check-up of the elderly was done and all kinds of necessary medicines were provided. Patients who needed surgery were registered.
Apart from this, glasses, walking sticks, collars etc. were distributed to the needy elderly and the names of the patients were registered to provide other assistive devices. During the camp, pensions of eligible elderly were provided, applications for senior citizen cards were filled and information was also given about providing legal aid and avoiding bank frauds.
On this occasion, MLA S. Kuljit Singh Randhawa said that the Punjab Government is committed to the welfare and security of the elderly and their health and social security are being ensured through such campaigns.
Officers of various departments, medical teams and local representatives were also present in the camp.
