Patiala, June 23:- International Yoga Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm by Health Awareness Society (Regd.) and Yoga Parivar Group at the historic Barandari Gardens, Patiala. Dr. Ghazal Preet Singh, Registrar, Shaheed Bhagat Singh University, Ferozepur attended the event as the chief guest.
During his address, Dr. Ghazal Preet Singh said that Yoga practice is very important for a healthy and disease-free life. He said that Yoga not only improves physical health, but also provides mental peace and spiritual strength. He also appreciated the continuous Yoga classes being conducted at Barandari Gardens for the last several years.
The event was presided over by Dr. G.S. Anand, former Director NIS and Narain Bala. Encouraging the Yoga aspirants, he said that Yoga should be made a part of the daily lifestyle of every person.
Mrs. Meena Pawar along with her team from Wellness Health Club attended the event. Giving information on this occasion, it was informed that a five-day medical camp was also organized recently. Um Prakash Sharma and Manju Kumari, who are certified yoga teachers, conducted a 15-day yoga retreat from June 8 to June 21. During this, various yoga exercises were taught to increase body flexibility, reduce mental stress, strengthen the heart and increase inner strength.
Jaswant Singh Kauli, President of Health Awareness Society, said that yoga classes are being organized in Barandari Gardens from 5:30 am to 7:00 am every day since October 2, 2015. He said that these activities are supervised by Advocate Tara Singh Bhamra (General Secretary) and Ranjit Kaur (Vice President).
Active yoga practitioners of the Yoga family Harjit Kaur Rozi and Jaswinder Kaur are also making a significant contribution to this campaign. Apart from this, Hari Chand Bansal, Prem Goyal, Jitendra Verma, Ravinder Garg, Radha Rani Garg and Bhupinder Arora provided special support for the success of the event. On this occasion, Rajesh Mittal, D.P. Bansal, Surinder Kumar, Jaspal Singh (Bank Manager), Mayawati, Neeru Modi, Baljinder Kaur, Gagandeep Kaur, Tari Municipal Commissioner, Manjit Kaur, J.P. Singh along with a large number of yoga lovers and dignitaries were present. During the event, people were made aware about the importance of yoga and the message of adopting yoga for a healthy life was given.
