Ludhiana, July 9, 2026: The university always stands by farmers, offering guidance and support whenever challenges arise; this was stated by Dr. Jatinder Pal Singh Gill, Vice-Chancellor of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU), Ludhiana. He made these remarks while interacting with farmers participating in a dairy farming training program.
On this occasion, he shared his knowledge and experience with the trainees, guiding them on how to become successful entrepreneurs. He placed special emphasis on the importance of financial planning, scientific management, and market-oriented dairy farming. Dr. Gill advised the farmers not to limit themselves to selling liquid milk but to venture into the production, branding, and collective marketing of quality dairy products through Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs).
He suggested that participants plan their investments wisely, take an active role in the daily management of the farm rather than relying solely on hired labor, and stay connected with the university for continuous technical guidance and support. He also assured full technical assistance to any new startups being established in this sector.
During the session, he invited suggestions from the trainees and assured them that their inputs would be incorporated to make future training programs even more effective.
In his address, Dr. Ravinder Singh Grewal, Director of Extension Education, stated that patience, dedication, and a spirit of continuous learning are essential for success in dairy farming. He advised the trainees to learn from progressive dairy farmers, avoid unnecessary expenses, and make the most of the university's extension services, publications, entrepreneurship support, and marketing initiatives. He remarked that the synergy between scientific knowledge and practical experience forms the strong foundation of a successful dairy enterprise.
Dr. Jaswinder Singh, Head of the Department of Extension Education, stated that the extension wing is committed to making every possible effort for the upliftment of livestock farmers and the animal husbandry sector. He informed that a total of 64 trainees—including five female participants from 12 districts of Punjab—are participating in the ongoing two-week dairy farming training program.
