Chandigarh, May 27:- Haryana Health, Medical Education, Research and AYUSH Minister Aarti Singh Rao on Wednesday honored Pandit Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences, PGIMS Rohtak Medical Superintendent, SOTO Haryana and the organ transplant team in Chandigarh with a certificate of appreciation.
She patted the backs of Medical Superintendent Dr. Kundan Mittal, the entire team of SOTO Haryana and the transplant surgeons and said that due to their tireless efforts, Haryana is becoming the ideal state of the country in the field of organ donation.
Health Minister Aarti Singh Rao met PGIMS Rohtak Vice-Chancellor Dr. Heartily congratulating Dr. HK Agarwal, the dedicated doctors, surgeons, the entire team of Soto Haryana, the nursing staff, and the entire medical team for successfully performing organ transplants from brain-dead donors, he said that this noble deed is saving the lives of many people.
The Health Minister specifically mentioned the case in which the PGIMS Rohtak team had airlifted a kidney to the Army Command Hospital in Chandimandir through an Army helicopter. He said that the timely transplant saved the life of a jawan. He said that this exemplary coordination between the medical team, administration and the armed forces shows the spirit of service to humanity. This is not just organ donation, it is service to the nation.
Health Minister Aarti Singh Rao said that Dr. Agarwal's team has created a new record by conducting 5 successful organ donations in the last two months at PGIMS. The words of the counseling team of Soto Haryana have the power to convince even the family of a brain-dead person drowning in grief to donate organs. They said that death is inevitable, but with organ donation we can defeat death too. There is no greater virtue than organ donation.
The Health Minister saluted all the families who donated organs. He said that the family which thought about the welfare of others even after taking away a piece of its liver is not a family, it is like a god. The society will not be able to pay off the debt of all the families who donated organs even in seven births.
He said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji has also called organ donation a great gift in the ‘Mann Ki Baat’ program. With his inspiration, awareness has increased rapidly in Haryana.
The Health Minister said that every year lakhs of people in India die waiting for organs. A ‘yes’ from the family of a brain-dead person can rekindle the flame of the house of 8 families.
