Patiala, August 1:- A ruckus broke out in the presence of senior party leader Bhupesh Baghel and party state president Raja Warring, who were sent to the state by the Congress high command with the aim of ending the infighting in the Punjab Congress, when some leaders and workers started raising strong slogans in favor of former Chief Minister and senior party leader Charanjit Singh Channi.
Raja Warring appealed to them several times but they did not move, fed up, Raja Warring threatened them with action and said, "Do not try to get anything out of my mouth that will prove dangerous for your leader." But they continued to raise slogans.
Raja Warring's supporters also kept coming up against those raising slogans but Raja Warring asked them to remain calm. Later, while talking to the media, Bhupesh Baghel warned in strong words that indiscipline will not be tolerated. He said that Navjot Singh Sidhu has also been expelled from the party for the same reason. Raja Warring said that former MLA Madan Lal Jalalpur has also been suspended due to indiscipline. Meanwhile, Charanjit Singh Channi met the suspended leader Madan Lal Jalalpur today. He criticized the action of suspending Jalalpur and asked all the leaders to walk together.
The Channi faction is boycotting the meetings being held under "Har Booth Congress Kadhar" and Bhupesh Baghel. The Channi faction is demanding that Charanjit Singh Channi be made the state president of the party, but the party high command has given a blank reply in this regard. The Channi faction claims that the upcoming assembly elections cannot be won under the leadership of Raja Warring. Efforts are underway to convince Charanjit Singh Channi, but the chances of these efforts succeeding seem slim.
