Nawanshahr, October 28- Today, the leaders of Shiromani Akali Dal (Punar Surjit) gathered outside the district complex under the leadership of Shiromani Committee member Jathedar Mahinder Singh Hussainpur, Vice President. On their behalf, they sent a memorandum to the Central and Punjab governments through Deputy Commissioner Shaheed Bhagat Singh and worked to apply ointment to the deep wounds of the affected farmers.
Speaking on the occasion, Jathedar Hussainpur said that the recent floods in many parts of Punjab have brought the farmers to the brink of great economic and mental disaster. During these floods, crops were submerged under water, many houses were destroyed and there was also a huge loss of livestock.
He said that not only this, the attack of turmeric and China virus on crops in the state has plunged the farmers into deep worry, due to which the average yield has decreased by 40 percent. Due to this, the farmers have been divided even within the farmer community due to untimely diseases and floods. He regretted that these problems were not taken up with sensitivity by either the Central or the Punjab government.
The farmers have not yet received compensation for the damage caused by the floods nor have they received any rebate for the damage caused by untimely diseases on the paddy crop. He demanded that the farmers be immediately compensated for the damage caused by the floods, and that financial compensation be given by giving rebates for the low yield of the paddy crop.
The crops damaged due to turmeric and China virus should be considered as natural disasters and given a special assistance package, and immediate concessions should be given in the procurement criteria for grains that are discolored and affected by natural disasters. So that farmers do not have to face losses in the markets and a special relief fund should be released for the repair of houses, livestock and roads damaged due to floods.
On this occasion, senior leaders Sarjit Singh Dubhali, Haramarinder Singh Rinku Chandpur Rarki State Delegate, Sarjit Singh, Jathedar Avtar Singh Sadhra and many other leaders were also present. On this occasion, a memorandum was given to the District Revenue Officer Mandeep Singh Mann in the name of the Central and Punjab Government.
