Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, December 17:- Under the leadership of Mr. Atul Kasana, District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, SAS Nagar, a seminar was organized by the District Legal Services Authority at Universal Group of Institutions, Lalru to protect students from the increasing influence of drugs and to make them aware about the harm caused to the society due to drugs.
Mrs. Surbhi Prashar, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, made the students aware about the ill effects and consequences of drug use and motivated them to keep themselves away from such evils. He also informed that under the directions of Justice Shri Ashwani Kumar Mishra, Judge, Punjab and Haryana High Court and Executive Chairman, Punjab State Legal Services Authority, “Drug Free Punjab” campaign is being run across Punjab.
This campaign will be run from 06.12.2025 to 06.01.2026 to reach every nook and corner of every village/town affected by drug addiction. The aim of the campaign is to make youth, parents, communities aware of the dangers of drug abuse and promote awareness about legal consequences and rehabilitation support. During the campaign, rallies, walkathons, workshops and seminars will be organized in collaboration with panel lawyers, para-legal volunteers, local administration, health and education departments.
Competitions like speech, debate, poster making, chart making will be organized in schools and colleges to create awareness among students about drug abuse. Apart from this, street plays will be presented to make people aware about the ill effects and consequences of drug use. Counseling sessions will be arranged for people struggling with drug abuse and free legal aid will be provided to them.
