Dera Bassi (S.A.S. Nagar), August 4:- The Yuva Aapda Mitra Training Program being conducted by Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration (MGSIPA) at Shri Sukhmani College, Dera Bassi in collaboration with National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and Punjab State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) is continuing successfully.
The second day of the training program was traditionally started by lighting the lamp. On this occasion, the Course Director of MGSIPA, Principal of Shri Sukhmani College, college staff, MGSIPA instructor team and officials of Dera Bassi administration were present.
During the training, NSS The volunteers were given detailed information about earthquake, heat wave, pre-disaster preparations, first aid and saving the life of an injured or patient in an emergency situation using household items.
The instructors of MGPSA made the volunteers aware about the importance of CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation) and also gave a practical demonstration of the correct method of CPR, the immediate measures to be taken in case of cardiac arrest. Apart from this, training was also given on how to safely rescue people affected by heat wave, various techniques of moving the injured from one place to another and laying the patient in a safe recovery position after providing first aid. The participants were also provided with information about the causes, symptoms and measures to be taken for timely rescue of heart attack.
On this occasion, Head Consultant and MGPSA Course Director (Yuva Aapda Mitra Scheme) Dr. Prof. Yog Bhatia said that the main objective of this training is to enable the youth to provide immediate and effective assistance during disasters so that the loss of life in emergency situations can be minimized.
On this occasion, NSS volunteers, NSS Program Officer, Principal and staff of Shri Sukhmani College, Instructor team of MGSIPA, Tehsildar Birkaran Singh, Kanungo, Patwari and other officials of Dera Bassi administration were also present.
