Hoshiarpur:- Rotary Eye Bank and Corneal Transplantation Society organized a special meeting under the leadership of President J.B. Bahl. On this occasion, former District Governor of Lions Club 321-D Lion Harish Banga attended as the chief guest.
During the meeting, the Society's Chairman and eminent social worker Sanjeev Arora gave detailed information about the service activities of Rotary Eye Bank and said that the organization has been spreading awareness among the people regarding corneal transplantation, eye donation and body donation with a selfless spirit for many years. He said that the objective of the organization is not only to provide sight to the people, but also to strengthen the spirit of human service in the society. He appealed to all the citizens to join this noble cause by donating eyes.
Sanjeev Arora said that the society has so far provided free vision to 4,170 corneal blindness patients. Apart from this, 30 bodies have been handed over to various medical colleges for post-mortem research work, while 250 people have registered for body donation.
Chief guest Lion Harish Banga in his address said that Rotary Eye Bank has set a wonderful example of human service by bringing new light in the lives of thousands of needy people. He said that every organization of the society should actively participate in such humanitarian efforts, so that the benefits of this service reach maximum needy people.
Praising the entire team of the organization, he said that there is no religion greater than service to humanity. He also announced that all clubs of Lions Club 321-D will run a special awareness campaign to make eye donation a people's movement.
Rotary Eye Bank President J.B. Bahl said in his address that the aim of the organization is to ensure that no economically weaker person remains deprived of sight. He said that the organization is continuously working in the field of eye donation and corneal transplantation and with the support of the society, its services will be further expanded in the future.
He thanked all the members and reiterated his commitment to extend this human service to more people.
At the end of the program, Lion Harish Banga was honored by presenting a memento by the Rotary Eye Bank and Corneal Transplantation Society. On this occasion, the social workers present also highly appreciated the services of the organization and assured their full support in the future as well.
