Hoshiarpur, July 29:- As per the guidelines of Civil Surgeon Hoshiarpur Dr. Mandeep Kamal, a monthly review meeting of urban area medical officers, ANMs and ASHA workers was held at Civil Hospital Hoshiarpur. The meeting was chaired by District Family Welfare Officer Dr. Ranjit Singh and District Vaccination Officer Dr. Seema Garg.
During the meeting, activities related to maternal and child health (MCH), Universal Immunization Program, family welfare services and World Hepatitis Day were reviewed in detail. Along with this, necessary instructions were issued to the health workers to bring further improvement in health indicators.
Addressing the meeting, District Family Welfare Officer Dr. Ranjit Singh said that 100% registration of every pregnant woman should be ensured and antenatal registration should be done within the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. He said that ANC-1, ANC-2, ANC-3 and ANC-4 tests of every pregnant woman should be completed on time.
He stressed on timely identification of high-risk pregnancies and ensuring their regular monitoring and follow-up, so that the safety of the mother and the child can be ensured. Apart from this, instructions were also given to make Hepatitis-B screening of every pregnant woman mandatory.
Dr. Ranjit Singh appealed to get maximum deliveries done in government health institutions and said that expert gynecologists and all necessary facilities for delivery are available in government hospitals. He directed to regularly monitor pregnant women and refer them on time if necessary to reduce the cases of stillbirth.
On this occasion, District Vaccination Officer Dr. Seema Garg said that all vaccination sessions should be conducted on time as per the microplan and no eligible child or pregnant woman should be deprived of vaccination.
He said that every newborn should be given a birth dose of Hepatitis-B within 24 hours of birth. If a mother is found to be Hepatitis-B positive, then HBIG should also be given to her newborn on time as per the prescribed protocol, so that the child can be protected from Hepatitis-B infection.
