Ratia, January 8:- A serious case of injustice has come to light at the Punjab National Bank, Ratia branch. A farmer, Karamjit Singh, deposited the entire outstanding amount of his agricultural loan as per the bank's instructions, yet the bank management is not issuing the No Dues/NOC certificate.
The farmer says that the final amount told by the bank employees at the time of loan clearance was fully deposited. Three days later, branch manager Rajiv Bekha suddenly claimed an "old outstanding" amount of ?12,000, even though no information about this had been given earlier, nor was any written statement provided.
Regarding this matter, officials of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (Ekta Ugrahan) reached the Punjab National Bank, Ratia branch and met with branch manager Rajiv Bekha. A written complaint was submitted by the union, clearly stating that farmer Karamjit Singh should not be deliberately harassed.
The union officials warned that if the No Dues/NOC is not issued soon or a written statement of the alleged outstanding amount is not provided, the Bharatiya Kisan Union (Ekta Ugrahan) will be forced to stage a protest at the bank's gate.
The union has demanded immediate intervention from the bank's higher authorities and the administration in this matter. Present at the scene were farmers Kala Singh, President Karamjit Singh, Sarabjit Singh, and Advocate Gurpreet Singh Mander.
