Chandigarh:- The Bhagwant Mann government of Punjab has taken a historic pro-people decision, giving a big relief to thousands of casual and outsourced employees of the state. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the government has announced that more than 65,000 outsourced employees of the state will be freed from the contractual system and brought directly under government contract (contract). This step of the government is being considered as the biggest improvement so far in the field of employment and employee welfare in the state.
According to the new rules set by the government, outsourced employees who have completed 5 years of their service will be taken directly on government contract without any delay. This decision will immediately benefit about 26,400 employees of the state and they will come directly under the Punjab government with immediate effect.
According to information received from state government sources, the Punjab government has taken special care of employees performing dangerous and risky duties. The service period for all such employees has been reduced from 5 years to just 3 years. That is, employees doing risky work who have completed 3 years of service will also become directly eligible for government contracts. With this new system, the contractual system will be abolished, and now the salary of the employees will be deposited directly in their bank accounts without any deduction. All contract employees will get the benefit of all legal facilities including provident fund, medical facilities and gratuity. Now no department will be able to dismiss any employee arbitrarily. Before dismissing anyone, a written reason will have to be given and the employee will be given a full opportunity to be heard to present his/her case.
